PILATES METHOD

Pilates is a total body conditioning method developed over 80 years ago by Joseph H. Pilates, this complete exercise system increases strength, flexibility and muscle tone through a series of controlled movements. Low-impact exercises are completed in a sequence with few repetitions, emphasizing form and alignment. Pilates focuses on the ‘core’, the muscles of the back, abdominals, buttocks, lower back and also targets the intrinsic, supporting muscles to give a long, lean physique. By incorporating the breath into the movements, the mind becomes focused and more in tune with the body, creating balance, improved posture and body awareness that carries into daily life. Enjoyed by all ages and fitness levels, workouts can be modified to address injuries or existing conditions such as back/spinal issues, arthritis, osteoporosis, as well as pre and post-natal care.
